COMMEDIA DELL'ARTE WORKSHOP

Artspring Feb. 6th 2:30 through 4:30
Register in Artspring Exhibition Room at 2pm

Workshop Fee:  $30

The workshop will begin with warm up that includes exercises to develop a strong centre and the ability to feel comfortable with self-expression. Followed by an introduction to various skills in clown and improvisation techniques based on the Commedia stock characters; Harlequin, Pantalone and Columbina. Workshop students can expect to use Commedia masks in order to develop the characters and the character’s relationships to one and another
and explore fundamental principles of physical comedy such as rhythm, timing, pantomime and mime.  We will share with others our sense of playfulness and  develop physical expression and confidence.

Actors are encouraged to bring a small bag of costume pieces like old hats, scarves or scraps of material and props such as hand brushes, fly swatters, plastic cups etc. These bits and pieces will help to enhance their ability to draw upon imagination and spontaneity.

Please note all workshop students are eligible for 2 for 1 tickets to the LADIES' AIRES Performance on Sunday at Artspring!
