Let's Make a Movie!

Students participate in the complete production of a short film while learning fundamentals of filmmaking, including:

  • Choosing a story
  • Writing the script
  • Storyboarding
  • Location Scouting
  • Props/Costumes/Actors
  • Shooting the Film
  • Editing

 

Class size limit: 8 students.  Recommended ages: 8 - 14 years old.  The tuition of $200.00 includes a DVD copy of the final film. Completed production will be posted online by students after creating a new channel on YouTube.  Arrangements may also be made to premiere the movie at a live event, depending on student interest.

About Cindy

Cindy

Instructor Cindy Jacobsen has been teaching movie-making workshops for children on Salt Spring Island since 2006. She received a B.A. in Art from California State University Hayward, with post-secondary studies in Filmmaking and certifications in Multimedia Authoring and Web Authoring.

Past careers have included working in the film industry, designing and maintaining websites, and as a college instructor of media studies and web design. Her other passion, beyond teaching kids how to make movies, is developing documentary projects of her own.
