Kristen Lewis

Kristen is a compassionate, attentive teacher whose goal is to help students of all ages discover their unique creative potential in an environment that is at once nurturing and challenging. As a Creative Dance teacher, she encourages young students to dance with joy, curiosity, and self-respect as they explore and expand their movement vocabulary.

Kristen Lewis has studied movement and performance her whole life---from competitive gymnastics as a child, through intensive ballet training as a young teenager, onto a successful career as a distance runner in her late teens and early twenties. She began “putting on shows” for her family and friends at a young age, and has never really stopped. Her first play appeared at the Atlantic Fringe Festival in 2002, to rave reviews. She has since undergone extensive dance, movement, and performance training (across a range of modalities), and has created a number of plays, dance pieces, and sight-specific performance events on Salt Spring Island and beyond. Kristen is also a serious yoga practitioner and teaches adults and children's classes on Salt Spring Island. She graduated with an honors degree in Multi-Disciplinary Studies from Dalhousie University in 2001.
